At Flat Rock Point, Rockport, March 1st. Draft.
Pewter platter sea,
swelling mounded silver at a shore
ringed with lace -
finest white
that glows in fading day.
Down orange rocks I climb,
perch where leveled eye
beholds the line
where sky and water
touch
in contrasting blues -
heaven brighter and ocean darker hued.
Water swishes hem against
the shore
or bellows deep where run
against sharp rocks,
as she tries to gain a foothold
on the land.
I turn my back
before night shadows the crevasses,
leaving my sea
still locked between
sky and earth.
